Bug Tracking & Journal
How HelixMind automatically detects bugs, tracks them across sessions, and maintains a persistent bug journal.
Bug Tracking & Journal
HelixMind automatically detects bugs in code and maintains a persistent bug journal that tracks issues across sessions with evidence and status updates.
Automatic Bug Detection
The bug detector scans AI-generated code for common issues:
| Bug Type | What It Catches |
|---|---|
| Security | SQL injection, XSS, path traversal, hardcoded secrets |
| Performance | N+1 queries, memory leaks, inefficient loops |
| Correctness | Null dereferences, type mismatches, race conditions |
| Maintainability | Code duplication, circular dependencies, dead code |
| Style | Inconsistent formatting, naming violations |
Detection runs after validation and before changes are applied.
Bug Journal
Every detected bug is stored in the persistent journal:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
id | Unique identifier |
description | Human-readable bug description |
file | File path (if applicable) |
line | Line number (if applicable) |
type | Bug category (security, performance, etc.) |
status | open โ investigating โ fixed โ verified |
evidence | Screenshots, error messages, stack traces |
created_at | When the bug was first detected |
updated_at | Last status change |
CLI Commands
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
/bug list | Show all bugs with status |
/bug show <id> | Show details for a specific bug |
/bug fix <id> | Mark bug as fixed (with fix description) |
/bug verify <id> | Mark bug as verified |
/bug add-evidence <id> | Add evidence (screenshot, error) |
Web Dashboard Integration
The web dashboard includes a bug management interface:
- Bug list view with filters (status, type, file)
- Bug detail page with evidence gallery
- Timeline of status changes
- Assign bugs to team members
- Export bugs as CSV/JSON
Example Workflow
1. AI suggests code with potential SQL injection
2. Bug detector flags it as security issue
3. Bug journal entry created (status: open)
4. Developer reviews bug in web dashboard
5. Bug marked as fixed after code review
6. Evidence added (screenshot of fixed code)
7. Status updated to verified
